AWR1843BOOST vs AWR1843AOPEVM

Hi Experts,

Good day.

I just want to clarify the differences between the two EVMs. Upon checking with their main components, datasheet shows that AWR1843AOP has AOP(antenna on package) while the AWR1843 variant has not. Other than that, is/are there any differences for their application?

As per client, he is more into its detection rather than speed/velocity; this LINK described AWR1843AOPEVM as 'optimized for static objects', does it mean it is not well design for moving targets? Is it similar with the AWR1843BOOST?

I read the link but it couldn't confirm my 2nd question mentioned above.

Does AWR1843AOPEVM not recommended for moving objects? This LINK described it as optimized for 'optimized for static objects'.

Need your confirmation on this. Thank you.

Hi Archie,

This is the answer i got from the texas forum expert:

"The AOP antenna is good for moving and static objects. The announcement you refer to emphasized that the sw released for aop (the obstacle detection demo) is optimized for static detection"

I guess it is a maater of the sofware you use, the y main difference as they told me in the other post is:

"The AWR1843BOOST antenna was designed to provide better performance in azimuth than elevation.

The AWR1843AOP antenna was designed to provide similar performance in azimuth and elevation.

This means that for an application where azimuth information is more important the BOOST antenna will have better performance."
