Hi everybody

I have the IWR6843ISK and the DCA1000. I would like to collect radar data together with data using another sensor. And I would like the two datasets to be synchronised in time. The other sensor can take in a "start recording"/"trigger" signal that is a rising edge on an input pin. My question is, can the IWR6843ISK do the same?

Can I trigger the frames on the IWR6843ISK on the rising edge of an external signal?

We support external hardware trigger for each frame start. You can find some guide at SDK Doxygen documentation:

If hardware triggered mode is used, the SYNC_IN pulse width should be less than 1us. Also, the minimum pulse width of SYNC_IN should be 25 ns.

Each frame is triggered by rising edge of pulse in SYNC_IN pin, after receiving rlSensorStart (this is to prevent spurious transmission). W.r.t. the SYNC_IN pulse, the actual transmission has ~160ns delay and 5ns uncertainty in SINGLECHIP and only a 300 ps uncertainty (due to tight inter-chip synchronization needed) in MULTICHIP sensor applications as defined in rlChanCfg_t.For more details please refer to device datasheet.

Where exactly would I connect the trigger signal on the IWR6843ISK board? I don't see SYNC_IN pin at all.

Where are you looking for the SYNC_IN pin connections?

You could refer to the device datasheet for this purpose. Here is the link : https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/swrs219e/swrs219e.pdf

It mentions the ball number for pin connection.

For internal onboard connections, please refer to the linked schematic files for IWR6843 : xWR6843 EVM Schematic Drawing, Assembly Drawing, and Bill of Materials (Rev. C) and search for RADAR_SYNC_IN signal.

Hi Ishita,

Thank you for your response. I think I am struggling to read what the datasheets are actually saying about the "ball" positions. I cannot translate what is being said/drawn to the board on my hand.

Could you perhaps help me more by pointing out where the SYNC_IN is? I have attached images of my board.
