I am using mmWave Studio 3.0.0.14 with an MMWCAS-DSP-EVM and MMWCAS-RF-EVM. For configuration, I used Cascade_Configuration_MIMO.lua. Design Guide: TIDEP-01012 shows that in MIMO mode, the max range is 150m. Does the config script, Cascade_Configuration_MIMO.lua, support that range? Or, do I have to modify the settings through mmWave Studio GUI or by updating the lua script to detect objects 100+ meters away from the RADAR?

Hello Wei,

Yes, Cascade_Configuration_MIMO.lua supports that range.

The chirp Configuration used in TIDEP-01012 is also documented in Section 3.2 of the design user guide. I would request you to take a look at that for confirmation.

Hi Ishita,

When we used the cascade_MIMO_signalProcessing.m script to process the captured data, we are always seeing 16 M as maxShowRange. After digging into the .m files, I found that it's calculated based on the adc_samples which was set in the MIMO config lua script as follows.

local adc_samples = 256 -- Number of samples per chirp

Does that mean we have to change this adc_samples to have a different max show range?

Maximum Range is a function of Max IF bandwidth supported and the slope of the transmitted chirp as highlighted in the following application note : Programming Chirp Parameters in TI Radar Devices (Rev. A)

Please refer to the above linked document and change the necessary parameters in your script accordingly.
