AWR2243BOOST: AWR2243 I2C not recognized by Host (Jetson Xavier)

So I had a little progress today,

I am connected from my host I2c, to AWR2243 I2C_CLK J5 pin 17 and  AWR2243 I2C_DATA J5 pin 19.

When I scan all I2C addresses, I can see only addresses 0x48, 0x49 and 0x60.

I also succeeded reading byte from 0x48, 0x49 and 0x60.

My AWR2243 is configured to address 0x28 - but I don't see it.

Also, nRESET is high, so AWR2243 should be out of reset.

Also, SOP is configured to SOP7.

My guess is that AWR2243 doesn't get into SOP7.

The sequence I am performing is:

1. Clear nRESET GPIO (J6 pin 10)

2. Set SOP0, SOP1 and SOP2 (J6 pin 15,17,19)

3. Set nRESET GPIO (J6 pin 10)

After this I am pinging I2C address 0x28, with no success.

Am I missing anything?

How did you clear the Host_INT IRQ pin, I am facing the same issue like you did. I am using Jetson AGX Xavier.

Hi Vignesh,

You need to send clear IRQ message to the AWR2243.

First you need to understand what I2C bus you are using in the Jetson AGX.

Then, you can send the message by:

i2ctransfer <i2c_bus_number> w16@0x28 0x78 0x56 0x65 0x87 0xFF 0xFF 0xFF 0xFF 0xFF 0xFF 0xFF 0xFF 0xFF 0xFF 0xFF 0xFF

After clearing the IRQ message, the AWR2243 will start responding to I2C address 0x28.

Thanks for your reply. 

I connected the Pins 3 and 5 ( Corresponds to Bus 8 as per Software) of Jetson AGX. And checked via I2C detect . in that 0x28 is not shown.

I tried sending the message as per your advice..

But I am getting "Error: Sending messages failed: Remote IO error".

When checking in Logic Analyser, There is NAK for Address 0x28.

Note :  In sudo i2cdetect -y -r 8, address 0x28 is not displayed, only 48,49,60 are shown.

Hi Vignesh,

Jetson AGX J40 pin3&pin5 are bus 8 indeed.

You will not see address 0x28 with i2cdetect until you will clean the HOST_IRQ signal.

Addressed 0x48, 0x49 and 0x60 are other components on the AWR2243BOOST board, so you are connect correctly.

So my guess is that you are not working in I2C mode, but in SPI mode.

What is your SOP configuration ?

Did you performed the AWR2243BOOST board resistors change to connect I2C to J1 ?

SOP mode is SOP0 -1, SOP1 -1, SOP2 - 1.

I do not understand this statement

Hello Ron,

I made the hardware changes and now address 28 is detected.

I am able to write data and host interrupt is pulled down, but while I2C read, I am getting the following error. Have you faced this issue?

Do you have any idea on how to solve this?
