IWR6843ISK: Radome Material choice for IWR6843ISK

Part Number: IWR6843ISK

Hi I am trying to 3D print a casing for the radar using the Radome design guide. Is Polypropylene a suitable material to use for this since it’s not mentioned in the Radome Design guide however it has a dielectric constant of 2.2.
Here’s the link to the Polypropylene printer filament I am referring to.

  • Hello Talha Zafar,

We haven't used Polypropylene material in our design, Hence cannot corroborate it's effectiveness as a Rodome material at mmWave frequencies.

However some of the published articles states that due to lower dielectric constant, it could be used as Radome material, please see below link. However these are operated at lower frequencies.

However not seen published material showing at 60/77GHz it's effectiveness as Radom material. You could try and see, For wide azimuth field of view like IWR6843ISK Spherical Radome would be preferred, You also need to consider thickness and distance to Radome as shown the the Radome design guide.

    Thanks and regards,
