IWR6843ISK: Antenna gain

According to the data sheet of IWR6843ISK EVM, the MAX antenna gain is 7dBi.

Please let us know the detail conditions of measuring the antenna gain as bellow;

- We understand that 7dBi does not consider the loss in the strip line from IWR 6843 to the antenna. Is that right?

- The antenna gain may depend on the frequency. Please let us know the accurate maximum gain for 60.0 to 60.6GHz.

Hello Hideaki-san,

Antenna gain includes the losses from the transmission line (Grounded co-planar waveguide) also.

There will be antenna gain variation across frequency you could find variations in the below E2E post.

Dear Ishita and Chethan;

Thank you for the replies. The post you introduces is really useful.

In the post, the graph of antenna gain is shown as bellow. Maybe the horizontal axis is not frequency but degrees.

I find about 12 lines of many colors, and I guess they represent the gain for some frequencies.

I would appreciate it if you would let us know which color represents the gain for 60.0GHz and 60.5GHz.

Hello Hideaki-san,

Yes you are right, horizontal axis is not frequency but degrees. Gains from different frequencies within 60-64GHz are included. However, I'm afraid we don't have information for different colors mapping to frequency. All the variations are captured together in a single graph. However Antenna gain close to 60-60.5GHz close to 6-7dBi.
