AWR1243BOOST: Power Up async event was not received & No LVDS data

Part Number: AWR1243BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1243

I am using mmWaveStudio to interface with the AWR1243BOOST. The BSS firmware used is C:\ti\mmwave_studio_02_01_01_00\rf_eval_firmware\masterss\xwr12xx_xwr14xx_masterss.bin, and the MSS firmware is C:\ti\mmwave_studio_02_01_01_00\rf_eval_firmware\radarss\xwr12xx_xwr14xx_radarss.bin. When I click on SPI connect, the output is either "MSS Power Up async event was not received!" or "BSS Power Up async event was not received!" When a frame is triggered, the application times out with a "No LVDS data" message.

  • Hello Francisco,

Welcome to TI E2E forums. We're here to assist you.

I see you're using AWR1243 mmWave sensor. In order to capture data, you need to use DCA1000 capture card as well. In case you do not have it, please buy one.

Now coming to the software settings, you need to use mmwave_studio_02_01_01_00 which I can see you've already downloaded. Please refer to the mmWave Studio user guide closely to get the exact sequence of operations that need to be followed.

From your description, I can see you have interchanged the BSS and the MSS firmware. Here are the correct files that need to be used :

    For MSS : C:\ti\mmwave_studio_02_01_01_00\rf_eval_firmware\masterss\xwr12xx_xwr14xx_masterss.bin

    For BSS : C:\ti\mmwave_studio_02_01_01_00\rf_eval_firmware\radarss\xwr12xx_xwr14xx_radarss.bin.

You can proceed further only when the firmware is successfully is downloaded to the device. You have to follow all the configuration steps (connection, static config, data config, sensor config tabs in mmWave Studio) and then finally press the DCA1000 ARM button for data capture.
