OPT3001: appropriate ratio of visible transmission vs infrared transmission

Part Number: OPT3001

Hi Team,

Customer wants to understand when selecting window glass material, what is appropriate ratio of visible transmission vs infrared transmission, do you have any example graph? What is best case and worst case ratio we have tested with and result? Thx!

Andrew

  • Hi Andrew,

Have you read the app note for OPT3001? It contains information about infrared transmission and may have what you are looking for. Let me know if this helps.

    Thank you,

    Brent Elliott

  • Hi Brent,

Yes I did. But I didn't see useful data yet.

Could you point out where I can find the answer I am looking for?

    Thanks!

    Andrew

  • Hi Andrew,

Section 4.1 of the app note says that even though a dark window will block much of the visible light and still allow IR to be transmitted, the IR rejection of the OPT3001 will cause this to have very little adverse effects. I am not finding a ratio anywhere of the recommended visible/IR transmission, but figure 2 shows a chosen dark glass window that has 5x more IR transmission than visible light, which will still perform well for the OPT3001. Let me know if this helps.

    Thank you,

    Brent Elliott
