IWR6843ISK: How to set up WIFI communication between mmwave sensor and PC

Hello,

I would like to mount the device on the wall without PC, but send tracking data from IWR6843 via WIFI module.

Can I use esp8266 (UART) to connect IWR6843 then transmit the data to PC GUI? Or do you have any recommend device for remote control?

To set up the communication between mmwave sensor and PC via WiFi, what else I need to modify in the sensor or GUI?

Hi,

Yes. this is possible. you can connect the UARTs from the device to the Wi-Fi device and write the program to control the same. To bring out the UARTs you will need the MMWAVE IC BOOST board.

Hi Sudharshan,

I would like to use mmWave sensor for Fall detection. I got 2 boards, one is IWR1843BOOST, the other is IWR6843ISK without ICBOOST. I dont have ICBOOST, alternatively should I try migrate the BIN file of fall detection to 1843?

AND I saw there is a method to transfer data without using ICBOOST.

It seems I can solder 2 wires to USB_AR_RS232 then I can bring out the UART.

Hi,

For development purposes, it is better to use MMWAVEICBOOST and connect the UART to the 40 pin header. You can also find more details of the board connections in the EVM user guide.

IWR1843 device operates in 77GHz band and IWR6843 operates in 60GHz band. The choice depends on the end application.
