Hi team,

My customer is interested in IWR1843(BOOST) (and IWR6843AOP.)

They got some questions.

1. Do you have recommended measuring equipment (RF measurement)?

They used the Agilent's one but they are not sure what equipment is best for 79GHz devices.

2. Is the object data sent by UART at the bottom layer?

3. Which interface is used for the raw data such as distance, velocity and angle?

4. How are the data format for object data and object data?

5. How is the homing angle accuracy of the beam? like plus-minus x[degrees]

6. Why the receiver shifted 90 degrees compared with sender?

7. How do 2 dummy antennas work beside the receiver antenna on IWR1843BOOST?

8. How is the antenna patch like on the IWR6843AOP?

1. Do you have recommended measuring equipment (RF measurement)?

It depends on what kind of test customers are planning to perform:

For example spectrum measurements, you could explore spectrum analyzers from many vendors.

For example R&S has FSW series which goes upto 85GHz Signal and spectrum analyzers | Rohde & Schwarz (rohde-schwarz.com)

Keysight also offers similar instrumentation N9041B UXA Signal Analyzer, 2 Hz to 110 GHz | Keysight

If you are looking for specific to Automotive radar testes & RF chamber based testing few examples are shown below.

2. Is the object data sent by UART at the bottom layer?

If you are using AWR1843BOOST EVM object processed data is sent to XDS110 Emulator which has the USB to UART connectivity and connected to PC.

One could use the mmWave demo visualizer to run the demos mmWave Demo Visualizer (ti.com) You could refer to the below userguide.

3. Which interface is used for the raw data such as distance, velocity and angle?

Processed data is sent over UART interface as shown above. mmWave SDK user guide provides more details on this. You could install the SDK, After the installation you would find C:\ti\mmwave_sdk_03_0x_0x_0x\docs folder

5. How is the homing angle accuracy of the beam? like plus-minus x[degrees]

Could you please elaborate more on this, Receivers are not shifted by 90 in the 1843BOOST EVM
