IWR1443BOOST: Hardware failure

Part Number: IWR1443BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR1443, UNIFLASH

Hello.

I think there is a hardware failure from the E2E post at this URL(https://e2e.ti.com/support/sensors-group/sensors/f/sensors-forum/1040083/iwr1443boost-mss-firmware-version-failure/3850378?tisearch=e2e-quicksearch&keymatch=mss%20firmware#3850378&_ticdt=MTYzNDYyNDE5M3wwMTdjMzU1ZGZjNzkwMDVmOGJmNDcyNDYyZDY4MDUwNzIwMDIyMDZhMDA4NmV8R0ExLjIuMjEzODk1MTk1LjE2MzI5ODI5Mjg).

I don't know if the communication connection between MSS firmwear is bad, the communication connection between IWR1443BOOST and DCA1000 is bad, or other parts are bad,

so please contact me.

Below is a photo.

Best regards.

  • Hello

Can you please confirm if you have been able  to try the OOB demo on the non-working board?

    Thank you

    Vaibhav

  • Hello, Vaibhav.

Where is the usage of the OOB demo you are talking about?

    Best regards.

    Hiroki

  • Hello Hiroki,

Thankyou for creating a new query. From you previously linked thread, I can see you were not able to use your IWR1443 since the MSS firmware was not flashed properly (as denoted by 0.0.0.0).

This usually happens when there is something junk in the flash memory. Can you erase the flash contents in SOP 5 mode using uniflash and try again?

    Regards,

    Ishita

  • Hello, Kochar,

I did the Uniflash 6.4.0 as shown in the picture below. I erase the flash contents in SOP 5 in the Settings&Utilities. I downloaded "xwr14xx_ccsdebug.bin".

After that, I do the mmwave studio 2.1.1.0 and get following result.

The MSS Version is still "0.0.0.0".

Please tell me other possible ways to fix this.

    Best regards.

    Hiroki.

  • Hello Hiroki,

You just need to clear the flash contents and not flash any other image (like xwr14xx_ccsdebug.bin in this case).

The firmware will be downloaded when you click the "load" button for the below two BSS and MSS FW paths :

    Regards,

    Ishita

  • Hello Kochar,

I clear the flash contents as shown the picture below.

After that, I do the mmwave studio and get follow result.

The RS232 Operation doesn't work. the COM Port can work COM7.

    Best regards,

    Hiroki.

  • Hi Hiroki,

A couple of debug steps here :

    1. Have you made sure that you have set the board into SOP-2 mode (closing two jumpers on SOP0 & SOP1)? Power cycle the board by pressing the Nreset button and try to connect RS232.

    2. Select the correct COM port from the drop-down option, which would be emulated as 'Application/UART COM port' in the device manager.

    3. Please ensure that the COM port used for RS232 connection is not being used by any other application. We have see this happen a couple of times of if the COM port is engaged

    4. If that is not the case (point 3), try and connect to that COM port through some serial application like Teraterm, to make sure the port is accessible.

Please try the above methods and let us know your insights.

    Regards,

    Ishita
