AWR1443BOOST: Broken Unit - replacement/refund requested

Part Number: AWR1443BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DCA1000EVM, UNIFLASH, AWR1443

Hello,

I've been sent a faulty AWR1443BOOST device. I am requesting a refund (or replacement) at least if possible. I was referred to the E2E channel by the Texas Instruments Customer Support Center. Please let me know what information is required to begin this process of failure analysis.

I've attached images of the chipset below.

Best wishes,

Adnan

  • Hello Adnan,

Welcome to TI E2E forums and Thank you for reaching out.

We're here to assist you on this.

Can you please brief us in your issue/concern here? How could you figure out that the board is faulty? Is it not powering up?

    Regards,

    Ishita

  • Hello Adnan,

All of the boards are tested before shipping, so this should not happen. Can you tell us what power supply you are using? What are the symptoms you are having that have led you to determine that the board is faulty?

    Regards,

    Adrian

  • Hello,

Symptoms: I can successfully flash the device, but I cannot run the demo visualizer. I'm using mmWave SDK v2.1, with visualizer v3.1.0, and as you can see from the images attached above, my board is ES3.0. This image shows the error code I receive:

From this error code, 0x3fe, I've determined that the code points to the asynchronous phase lock loop calibration failing, as shown by the following image:

The power supply is fine. I'm using the same exact power supply and binary mss file (for flashing) on a second AWR1443BOOST + DCA1000EVM board, and it's running the demo visualizer without any error.

Since the device was showing the mentioned error code, would you please be able send me a shipping label so I can exchange this device.

    Best wishes,

    Adnan

    Proof of successful flashing:

  • Hello, which version of Uniflash are you using? Can you try version 6.3 and then load the image into the metaImage1 slot?

I am assuming you are not using a custom config and are seeing the issue even with the default config sent by the visualizer?

For our records, can you please provide the voltage/current rating of the supply you are using?

    Regards,

    Adrian

  • Hi,

I’m currently using Uniflash version 6.4.0. I’ve tried your suggestion with Uniflash v6.3 and I’m still getting the same error.

Again, my power supply is fine. I’ve been using my second newer AWR1443 BOOST for longer than I’ve used this older broken AWR1443 BOOST unit on the same power supply (max rated 5V 5A), and I have no issues with the newer unit.

Would you be able to replace the broken unit?

    Best wishes,

    Adnan
