DRV5011: can DRV5011 use for communication equipment

Part Number: DRV5011

hi team,

I want to check with you that whether the magnet can be placed on the metal shell when paired with DRV5011 acting as a tamper detection?

also if this is for high-speed signal communication equipment system use like 25GHz or 100GHz, will this magnet influence the signal accuracy?

do you have other more suitable device to introduce? an TO-92 package is needed for the direction. thanks.

  • Hello Kelly,

Thanks for reaching out on the forum. Can you provide a diagram of the metal shell and magnet?  Are you wanting to know whether a magnet used for tampering will affect the communication equipment?  According to Lenz's law we know that a changing B-field induces a current that opposes the change in the B-field. So your communication lines might exhibit a transient change in their signal when the magnet is brought toward the meter or taken away from the meter, assuming the magnet is sufficiently close enough with a strong enough field.  This might just look like a noise spike, which might not be an issue if you your communication lines are twisted pair.

Several of our devices come in a TO-92 package.  If you provide me a simple diagram of how you would like the device placed in your system, that will help me determine what might device might be a good fit for your system.
