AWR6843ISK: SPI problem

Part Number: AWR6843ISK

I recently purchased AWR6843ISK and use it on DCA1000. In mmwave studio SPI does not connect even with older software version. Switch settings are as per instructions.

.Any help is appriciated.

    Sorry for the delay due to holidays.

    Can you send the output log of mmWave Studio for us to understand and debug your issue better? What is the mmWave Studio version you're using? Is the connection of the two boards good from the hardware side?

    FAQ Q13. What are some of the debug steps that can be followed if there are issues in SPI Connectivity?

    1. Users must ensure that they are using the correct firmware version for the device. .........see above?
    2. Use SOP5 (mount jumpers on pins SOP0 and SOP2 on the EVM for this mode) to erase the flash using uniflashtool and try again in mmwave studio. .......OK
    3. Please ensure the switch S2 is set to 'SPI' and not “CAN” on the EVM.-............OK

  • Hello Mladen, 

    I see the device is not getting detected and that is why you're getting this error. One thing you can do is manually choose the Frequency band and the device type in mmWave Studio and then proceed ahead. 

    You can also try to run one of the demo DCA1000 scripts present in C:\ti\mmwave_studio_02_01_01_00\mmWaveStudio\Scripts with the name : DataCaptureDemo_xWR.lua

  • Hello Mladen,

    I see you're using mmWave Studio_02_00_00_02 for all your experiments. The latest version is mmwave_studio_02_01_01_00 and I see you're using the lua scripts from this version. 

    Please only use the latest studio version and the corresponding scripts that come with it. 

    Also, to use the "DataCaptureDemo_xWR.lua" script, you will have to modify the script a little to make it applicable to your device. From the log, I can see you're downloading the wrong firmware to the device, i.e. for XWR1243 or XWR1443. The script and the device wont work if a wrong firmware is flashed. 

    Please also check your ethernet connection. I see you're getting a few errors on connection with the DCA1000 board in your log. 

    It would be be good if you could send a picture of your hardware setup. The errors you're getting are corresponding to either an old/wrong version of the FW being used, or incorrect switch/SOP mode settings in hardware. I would recommend you to cross verify them once again according to the user guides.

    Flashing device with firmare 3.5 version (old 3.4) (from mmwave_industrial_toolbox_4_9_0)  resolved issue. I am able to use both mmwave studio and mmwave_demo_visualiser.
