TDC1000: Control of enable signal for LNA

Part Number: TDC1000

Hi team,

I am posting to learn some background about the enable signal of LNA in TDC1000.

Could you suggest what is the control logic behind this enable? Is it possible to control it manually?

Thanks,

Brian

  • Hi Brian,

    Thank you for your question.

The control to enable or bypass the LNA is a feature that is rarely used in typical applications with the TDC 1000. The LNA is almost always enabled because the TDC1000 is already limited by the relatively low gain produced by the LNA and PGA(41 dB max) compared to other ultrasonic AFE solutions. The control logic is configured through the TDC1000 register settings below.

One example of a case to disable(bypass) the LNA, is in using an external amplifier for the signal chain.

Otherwise, the feature can be helpful in debugging individual components of the receiver signal chain.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Thank you,

    Jacob
