AWR1843BOOST: About LP87702

Part Number: AWR1843BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LP87702, AWR1843

LP87702 pin 6 WD_RST and pin 7 WDI are connected to AWR1843ABL.

Is it okay to think that pin 6 is sending a RESET signal to the AWR1843, and is the output active low?

Pin 7 is the input pin, and the signal sent from AWR1843 is input to check if AWR1843 is operating normally, isn't it?

  • Hello,

Pin 7 is the watchdog input, which receives a signal from the AWR1843 that meets the watchdog timing requirements for the LP87702.

Pin 6 is a reset from the PMIC to the AWR1843 so that the PMIC can reset the AWR1843 if the watchdog times out.

By default, the watchdog is disabled on the PMIC by pulling pin 22 to 3.3V. To enable the watchdog, you need to pull pin 22 to GND by populating R190. However, you would also need to develop your application for the AWR1843 to send the watchdog signal to the PMIC if you want to enable the watchdog.

  • Hello, aozer

Thank you for answering the question
Is it okay that the LP87702 watchdog timer is not used this time?

Is it okay to think that I am not using the LP87702 watchdog timer because I am using the AWR1843 watchdog timer?

  • Hello,

Yes, it is ok to not use the watchdog timer. Whether or not you use the timer would be dependent on your safety requirements, however, the watchdog is not required to run any of the TI provided software.
