LM35: Reflow safe max temp and time last

Part Number: LM35

Hi Team,

Customer wants to double check if LM35CZ and LM35DZ can go through reflow 260C and last for 5 secs?

Thanks

Andrew

  • Hi Andrew,

The CZ and DZ devices are in a through hole package and we typically don't specify reflow temperature for through hole devices.  I am reaching out to the packaging team to see what information we can provide, but most likely should be okay.  I will let you know once I get confirmation from the packaging group.

  • Hi Eddie,

    Thanks for helping.

Or specifically if this package can withstand 260C for 5 sec? Thx.

    Andrew.

  • Andrew - this is a through hole device, it can withstand being soldered (at higher temperatures, more like 400C, which would actually melt the solder, unless you are describing a portion of the reflow process). Please understand that the package is not being soldered, the leads are - and this is main difference here between surface mount and through hole parts with respect to how they are soldered, as surface mount soldering does subject the package to high temperatures.
