AWR2944: I want to know why its receive module abandoned IQ design.

Hi. I have used AWR2243 for a while. And I notice your AWR2944's receive module abandoned IQ design. As we know, IQ design can reduce noise figure. So may I ask a question that why AWR2944's receive module abandoned IQ design. Can imaging be completed without IQ design at the receiving end? Thanks for your reply.

Hello ,

We found innovative design technique to maintain similar noise figure performance with I only chain. You can compare the datasheets and see that AWR2243 and AWR2944 have similar noise figure. The benefit you get is low power consumption. You can compare the datasheets and see that the peak power on the analog power rails (1V and 1.8V supplies) is lower in 2944 than 2243 even after adding the 4th transmitter.

Thanks for your response. And I want to make sure that all previous functions can be completed by using only I-channel data. Such as radar imaging can be supported by only I-channel data?

By "radar imaging" if you mean range doppler measurements of objects, yes that can be done with I only channel.
