DRV401: About probe coil

1. What determines the number of probe turns connected to the chip? How to determine the number of probe coils?
2. Why does the modified width of the amorphous ribbon in the probe coil affect the frequency of the probe? Is there this formula?
3. How to measure whether the probe coil of the chip is saturated when the primary current is 0A。

  • Hello Cecilia,

    1)  This is dependent on your probe material and how it gets saturated.  There is a limit on the time required and current in the datasheet.

2)This is probe dependent.  This is how your material saturates and is dependent on material and coil windings.

    3)  The probe should go in and out of saturation all the time.  If there is no error signal then the probe is getting saturated.  The PWM frequency should be between the 250KHz and 550kHz as described in the datasheet.
