FDC2214EVM: Using 2 channels in differential sensor configuration

Part Number: FDC2214EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: FDC2214

Is it possible to use FDC2214 in two channels in differential sensor in this configuration?

- Using 3 ‘plates’.

- CH0 and CH1 will be sharing one large plate.

Observation: When IN0A and IN1A connected to the same plate, the capacitance value is very strange and changes drastically. Am I unable to have a shared plate?

  • Eddie,

Unfortunately the devices' internal connections don't support shared sensors using the differential mode connections described in section 10.1.1 of the data sheet.
Does your application allow successive single-ended measurements, with capacitances calculated in post-processing?

    Regards,
    John
