TMP61-Q1: TMP61 application questions?

Part Number: TMP61-Q1

Dear team,

Could you please help answer below questions?

1. In the thermistor design tool, there is one sheet describes NTC Thermistor Comparison. Could you please tell me what the formula of sensitivity is?

2. The resistance will vary under different current load. If the constant current is 250uA whose accuracy is ±7%. Then what is our device's deviation for this constant current?

3. As the temperature increases, there will be a phenomenon in which a resistance value exists in several temperature ranges. For this situation, do we have a recommended solution or algorithm to compensate for the error caused by this situation?

Thanks & Best Regards,

Sherry

  • Hi Sherry,

    1. We recommend to use the 4th order polynomial regression formula with TI's thermistor portfolio. This is the most accurate and fastest way to calculate the temperature values. The 4th order polynomial regression works well with TI's thermistors because of the inherent linearity of the device. The 4th order polynomial regression can be found on tabs "4th Order Polynomial TMP vs Res" and "4th Order Polynomial TMP vs Vdc"

    2. Are you using the Thermistor Design Tool - Current Bias version of the tool? You are able to change the current source value on the main page of that tool.

    3. As mentioned in my response to question 1, please use the 4th order polynomial regression to avoid this situation.
