AWR1843: Capture raw data on the DCA1000EVM with an advanced subframe configuration

Part Number: AWR1843
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DCA1000EVM,

Are there any tips to get LVDS streaming to activate when using an advanced frame configuration?  It might not be possible, but I would like to access the raw data over Ethernet on the DCA1000EVM board while an advanced frame configuration is running on the AWR1843.  I am running version 3.2.0.4 of the SDK and I try using the "profile_advanced_subframe.cfg" , but I modify the lvdsStreamCfg line to be: -1 0 1 0 instead of -1 0 0 0.  Once I run that config file through, the LVDS_PATH_ERR LED on the DCA board lights up.

What I am after is a way to configure an advanced subframe and capture the raw data.  I am trying to match the setup as best I can in the lab0007 demo in the mmWave Automotive Toolbox so I can get better overall performance in near and far range.

Thank you.

Shawn

  • Hi Shawn,

I would request you to try once the OOB demo with

    C:\ti\mmwave_sdk_03_05_00_04\packages\ti\demo\xwr18xx\mmw\profiles\profile_advanced_subframe.cfg with

    lvdsStreamCfg -1 0 1 0 (cli command)

instructions are provided in the SDK user guide (3. 3. 2. mmWave demo with LVDS-based instrumentation)

lab0007 doesn't have feature to stream the LVDS data, but same advFrame config (single type: MRR or USRR config) you can try once with OOB demo to stream the LVDS data.

  • Hi Jitendra,

Thank you for the reply.  I just finished trying the OOB demo and config file from SDK version 3.5.0.4, but I am still getting the LVDS_PATH_ERROR on the DCA device.  The other configuration files work okay.

  • Hi Shawn,

Make sure that Hardware setup is correct, i.e. cable connection b/w AWR1843 EVM and DCA1000EVM (MIPI connector).

And you are following right set of instructions provided in the mmwave sdk user guide

This error you are getting from the OOB demo application or from the DCA capture tool ?

  • Hi Jitendra,

Thank you for the reply.  I believe the hardware is setup correctly because all of the other configuration files run and I am able to receive UDP data on the DCA board.  The advanced subframe is the only config file that throws an error.  The error is on the DCA board when the LVDS_PATH_ERROR LED turns red.

  • Hi Shawn,

I need to check that advFrame config with DCA1000 capture AWR1843 device with the latest SDK.

Or let me see if there is any limitation with OOB demo for data capture with AdvFrame configuration file.

    Regards,

    Jitendra
