MMWCAS-DSP-EVM: Is there a method to get point cloud data directly from the device?

Hi there!

I have an MMWACS-RF-EVM which has cascade AWR1243 devices and running together with MMWACS-DSP-EVM. I followed the MMWCAS-DSP-EVM user guide: https://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/spruis6. The procedure and methods provided in the guide depend on the mmWave Studio software, which only supports capturing and transferring the raw data from the device to PC if I am correct. In my use cases, I want the point cloud data directly, but I have to first transfer the raw data and post-process it using the MATLAB scripts provided in the mmWave Studio folders. I want to ask if there are any more efficient methods to get the point cloud data, such as bypassing the Studio Software or a ROS package. Thank you very much for any advice!

Hi Cesar,

Thank you for your reply. It seems that the reference design supports real-time running, but I do not find the setup instruction for this, and I also wonder if I need more hardware bedsides than the two I have(Since I found Jacinto ADAS Processor mentioned).

There is no other hardware needed. This demo should work with the cascade kit you have
