IWR6843: Range-dependent SNR threshold in industrial tool's people counting

Part Number: IWR6843

Hi,

    In document mmwave_industrial_toolbox_4_10_0\labs\People_Counting\docs\Tracking_radar_targets_with_multiple_reflection_points.pdf,

Figure 11 provides me the range-dependent SNR threshold function, but I need the range-dependent SNR function (SNR = f(R), not SNR_threshold = f(R)) for understanding these empirical observations.

Where I can get this (figure about SNR = f(R))?

Thank you,

  • Hello,

Sorry for the delay, we were out for winter holidays.

Estimating SNR of different objects is very difficult. In general, the SNR will decrease with the 4th power of range, as indicated in zone 3 of that figure. But we have found it more realistic to use other formulas for shorter range measurements as in zones 1 and 2. We have found the range dependent SNR is very similar to the threshold equations we have set, just the max value might need to change for different objects or setups or sizes.

What are you trying to understand from these values? I am not sure I am answering the right question.

    Regards,

    Jackson
