IWR1642BOOST: Multi-point solids level detection

Part Number: IWR1642BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR1843BOOST, DCA1000EVM

hello:

I purchased the IWR1642BOOST radar board for multi-point solids level detection, referring to the LEVEL SENSING case in RESOURCE EXPLORER; the specific URL is as follows:

Level Sensing (ti.com)

The radar board runs on the following files is:

high_accuracy_demo_16xx.cfg and  xwr16xx_high_accuracy_lab.bin

I have configured the radar board and tested it according to the instruction manual, I have encountered several problems, can you please answer them?

1.In the process of pedestrian detection, when detecting multiple people, only one point is detected, and the distance information detected is only the distance information in the Y-axis direction, and there is no information on the X-axis.

2.When I use the radar board to measure the level, there is no detection information. What is the reason for this?

  • Hi Shiyu,

I believe you are using the wrong labs for what you are trying to do.  Could you provide me more details on your application and intent so I may recommend demos that will better serve your radar need?

    Regards,

    Brennan

  • The devices I have purchased are IWR1843BOOST, IWR1642BOOST and DCA1000EVM.

My technical requirement was to perform level measurement on the upper surface of a coal bin, to measure as many points as possible and to display height information at different points.

After the material level measurement is completed, the points are to be connected to form a spatial surface, as shown below:

  • Hi Shiyu,

If you have never worked with these devices, I would highly recommend going through the Out of Box Demo on both the IWR1843BOOST and the IWR1642BOOST.

For what you are trying to do, the DCA1000EVM will not be necessary.  This board is for raw ADC data collection, for algorithm development etc.

For level sensing on the mmWave radar devices, we offer the High Accuracy Range Measurement Lab.  Please take a look at this and follow the steps given in the user guide.  After doing this, let me know if you have additional issues/questions.

    Regards,

    Brennan
