AWR1843BOOST: CW transmission with .cfg file

Hello team,

I have a custom board which is a mimic of AWR1843BOOST and want to measure its RF performance.
This board has usb-UART interface only. So I am configuring it with configuration file(.cfg) format.

Can I set it to transmit with CW(1tone)? If possible, please let me know the configuration examples(.cfg).

    Hi,

    Since you mention .cfg, I assume that the mmWave SDK demo is used.

    Unfortunately configuring CW mode with .cfg file is not supported in the mmWave SDK demo.

    In order to enable CW mode

    • one would need to write new target SW to support CW mode
    • OR
    • one would need to configure CW mode using mmWave Studio

    Hello Cesar,

    Yes. I'm using the mmWave SDK demo. So let me confirm your suggestion.
    (1) As for new target SW, please let me know any documents how to develop the new target SW.
    (2) As for using mmWave Studio, I thought one must use it with DCA1000EVM board. Is my understanding correct?

    Hi,

    For Question 1

    I checked and there are not references for developing target code to support CW. The reason for this is that CW is a testing mode, and we recommend all testing to be performed with mmWave Studio.

    For Question 2

    Yes you would need either a DCA1000 or the MMWAVE-DEVPACK.

    The MMWAVE-DEVPACK board is no longer available from TI but I was able to find the user guide https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/swru506/swru506.pdf

    Maybe you are able to build this board.
