AWR1642BOOST: Error when connecting to XDS Emulator

Hello,

First, please make sure the latest emulation package is downloaded and installed from below link.

If that does not work, can you please try below steps to flash the XDS firmware:

Hi Adrian,

The customer followed the instruction for flashing from the guide provided above. However, it doesn't work.

I have attached the screenshot from the customer for reference

Command prompt 

It is mentioned on the link you provided and on this thread that the USB interface can be bypassed by removing R128 & R129 and installing R166, R169. 

This may be the cause of the Issue but I will confirm with the customer if they have done any modifications on the board and will let you know.

Hi Adrian,

The customer confirmed that no modification has been done on the board. He also confirmed that he is using the USB micro cable provided on the AWR1642BOOST evaluation kit.

Could it be possible that the board is defective?

What is the power supply that they are using?

Can the probe the VGBAP pin and measure the voltage when powered on? It should measure around 0.9V.

Hi Adrian,

The customer replied a few minutes ago with the picture of the board connected to the PC. In the picture I found out that there is no power supply connected to the board. I instructed the customer to connect the board to a power supply and check if the 5v Led lights up before he connect the board to the PC.

I'll let you know if this solves the issue.

Hi Adrian,

I got an update from the customer. When he tries to connect the AWR1642BOOST board to the power supply the LED is blinking but the device is still not visible in the device manager. 

In addition, the customer could not find the VGBAP pin on the board. is there any pin that we can probe and measure aside from VGBAP?

The customer is still unable to connect the AWR1642BOOST to the PC. 

By the way, here is the picture of the power supply they are using:

It looks like the customer is using a 1.5A power supply instead of 2.5A as noted on the datasheet. 

I will advise the customer to use a power supply with > 2.5A to power the board. I will let you know if this resolves the issue.
