TMAG5170-Q1: TMAG5170EVM Design Files

Part Number: TMAG5170-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMAG5170, TMAG5170UEVM, TI-SCB

Hi team,

My customer is working on the TMAG5170EVM with the User's Guide here: https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/sbau350/sbau350.pdf

After searching TI.com, I can't find the public tools page for this EVM. The only TMAG5170 EVM I can find now is the TMAG5170UEVM.

Do we have the design files for TMAG5170EVM that we can share?

If it's a matter of NDA, feel free to close this thread and we can follow up offline.

Thanks,

Jacob

  • Jacob,

The original EVM design you are asking about was used only to support the advance product launch for TMAG5170. There were additional internal requirements which this particular format would have required in order to fully release this design.  It was decided to move away from the PAMB controller, and to use the smaller TI-SCB which would be more ideal for setting up customer support cases. With the full release of TMAG5170UEVM, the original APL tools folder was removed.

Functionally, the PAMB controller and TI-SCB are very similar, and the TMAG5170UEVM is really a miniaturized version of the larger APL PCB.  If there's a particular layout question, we can certainly help provide some support around this.  Can you provide any details specifically what need the customer has for the design files outside of the content already available in the user's guide?

    Thanks,

    Scott

  • Hi Scott,

Appreciate the insight. It makes sense why so limited documentation is available since this was a APL EVM.

What sparked the question is the customer desiring to create their own testing board based on the TMAG5170EVM which they can then incorporate with their magnet fixture for system level testing. The design files would help accelerate the design of the TMAG5170 portion of the board.

I'm happy to advise board design based on the TMAG5170UEVM since they are close, but I also don't see those design files online. Are those available?

    Thanks,

    Jacob

  • Jacob,

The user's guide shows the layout, but the design files weren't published on either EVM. I will contact you to discuss directly and we can work to support their tests.

    Thanks,

    Scott
