I am using LDC1612EVM board rev B. Once I upgraded wrong firmware, it stopped working. Got solution from Ti Technical support. As per advise, shorted PUR and VUSB pins (R6 and C29). Board was detected, but suddenly disappeared from the windows 7 Device manager. Now my PC is not sensing the board. I changed USB port on laptop. Changed the laptop and USB cable also. It remains undetected by computer. Case Number: CS0844465 referred to Ti Technical support. I am advised to post same in E2E.

Hello,

When the EVM is not recognized by the device manager, is it also unrecognizable to the python firmware upgrader?

Thanks Justin for the pain you are taking for my problem. But no luck. I tried the Python Firmware upgrade. Though in BSL mode (Shorting R6 and C29), Python firmware upgrade is not detecting it. Even PC Device manager also is not detecting the hardware and does not give any beep sound when I connect to its USB port. I tried all three ports on my laptop. Changed the USB cable also. I am worried, EVM has some hardware problem. I tried this on another Laptop also.

Hello,

Since the python firmware upgrade tool didn't detect it, there is a chance that the board was damaged. Do either of the D2 or D3 diodes light up when the board is plugged in?

Hello, Justin. Both the D2 and D3 are not lighting up. I have all other voltages measured AVCC1, DVCC1, DVCC2 and VUSB(C29). All 3.3 V. VBUS 5V. Except VREF+ and VREF- on D2 and D3 are zero V.

Hello,

If the diodes don't light up and you cannot communicate with the firmware upgrader, the board may have been damaged. The best case would be testing with a second board but you could also look at replacing components to see if that would fix the solution, though this would require in depth debugging to determine the actual issue.

Thanks Justin.Only component to be replaced is MSP430. Which I think not possible for me. Any chance that flash inside MSP 430 is erased. ?Any scope to reload start up program in MSP430 thru' other ports or SPI ?

Hello,

If the MSP430 flash was erased, you would still need connect the EVM to the PC to flash it with the correct firmware. The python firmware upgrader can detect the EVM even when it doesn't show in device manager and the default mode for the MSP without any code flashed should still be recognized by the tool.

If you don't want to use the GUI, you could just communicate directly to the LDC1612 by separating the LDC and MSP portions of the board and connecting an I2C compatible controller to the LDC1612.

Thanks Justin & Jajomar , thanks for your continuous support. I need to buy another EVM to continue my development work. Yes, I shall retain LDC1612 portion of EVM to be used with another controller , after I complete this development and customize the product. Once again I thank both for your support.
