IWR6843AOP: Usage of Radar Sensor in Vehicle Controlling Application

Hello TI Team,

We are working on a research project to evaluate possibility of usage of Texas Instruments integrated Radar Sensor. The targeted application is to mount a radar sensor on the Wheel Chair to detect the objects and avoid collision with the objects by reducing the speed of the moving wheelchair and by generating audio alarm.

We are curious to know, if the existing TI radar sensors are legally qualified to be used for such application in regions like USA and EU.

Hello,

A radar system should work well for this application, detecting objects that are close and giving a warning. Ti radar sensors can be qualified for use in the US and EU in many applications, but I am unfamiliar if there is regulation specifically around mobile wheelchairs. Seems it should be ok if it meets the general emissions requirements but you will have to check if there are other regulations for the specific application.
