OPT3101EVM: Calibration process using SDK user manual and MSP430F5529 problem in step 9 please help!

Hi Ephraim,

Is the comport for the launchpad showing up in Device Manager? Also, make sure to unplug and replug the launchpad into your PC after loading the firmware onto the launchpad.

Im still not see the indication from the comport

I'm also bought an MSPFET JTAG debugger if needed for this process.

Im following the steps in the SDK user guide.

step 5 done and step 6 done.
in step 7 i download MSPFlasher and write in the cmd:

cd C:\ti\MSPFlasher_1.3.20

MSP430Flasher.exe -w C:\Users\EfiMalka\Desktop\OPTEVM\release_0p9p1\OPT3101_SDK\Debug\OPT3101_SDK.txt -v -e ERASE_MAIN

and got:

In step 8 i wired the launchpad to the MSP430 as i wrote.

in step 9, i plug the MSP430FF529LP into a PC USB port. i downloaded tera term and connect the COM port UART1 with speed 9600 bit as write in the SDK:

i connect to COM6 with serial port setup:

everything compiled perfect as you can see in the image bellow:

when i debug the program and run all the program, i see two leds green and red open in the msp430F5529 without blinking, but im not see the indication in the port terminal, i get nothing in the port terminal.

something is wrong?

Thank you for providing these details on your debug steps.

When you say you are debugging and running the program, are you doing this from Code Composer Studio? You might just try flashing the launchpad, power cycling it, then opening Tera Term and checking for the response. Also, you may not get any response from Tera Term until you press a key in the terminal.

Thanks you for the response.
Yes, i'm doing the debugg and running the program using code composer studio.
I'm now noticed that when i connect the launchpad to pc, there are 3 ports available - COM5, COM6 and COM11.
i'm allways tried to get the indication using COM6 MSP application UART1.
but when i chose COM11 and press any key, i get an indication I2C Transaction Failed:

does something with my connection between the opt3101 and the launchpad wrong?

Hi Ephraim,

COM11 is the port that you want to be using. Can you send a picture of the connection from the launchpad to the EVM to validate the I2C connections?

I connect the EVM to USB and not it works. I got the indication.
so now the launchpad and the EVM is connected VIA usb and between them is i2c connections does it true? or i dont have to connect the EVM via USB?
