I would like to implement beamsteering to focus the view of the sensor in a particular direction. For example, two people will be sitting 1 meter from the sensor, but at a different angle with respect to the sensor. I want the beam to direct first to one person to get some information (to be later used for Vital Signs estimation) and then the beam must turn to the second person to get radar information. I am using the standard mmWave SDK 03.05 firmware and using the TI visualizer to visualize the range-angle FFT information. I have looked at the Long Range People Detection lab to get more information about the beamsteering using the IWR6843ISK, but all of the config files the lab provides are for long range. I want to beamsteer in the short range. So, I have tried to combine parts of the Long Range lab config files with the config generated by the TI Visualizer, but no luck until now. I have implemented a config file which should be pointing 45 degrees in one direction, but no matter at what angle I sit with respect to the sensor, I am still visible on the range-angle graph.
To put it concretely: I want a config file where I can point the radar to an area of interest, but in the short range (1-2 meters). So if the radar is beamsteering in one direction, persons in another direction are not visible. See below for the config file that I have build until now.
I really hope you can help me, because I am quite stuck at this point. I also would like to mention that I am no expert in radar theory. I know the basics, but my expertise lays in the Embedded Systems field.
