AWR1843BOOST: Increasing EIRP Of AWR1843BOOST

Part Number: AWR1843BOOST

Hi,

I have the following queries regarding  AWR1843BOOST:

1) What is the maximum EIRP ?

2) If we want to increase it up to 30dBm or more, can it be achieved in AWR1843BOOST's current antenna by way of increasing the number of Tx elements ? We do not plan to do any simulations after adding the Tx elements.

3) I assume similar increase in Rx elements would also be required. Is it possible to increase number of Rx elements without simulation ?

Looking forward for your support.

Thanks and Regards,

Shiwankar

  • Shiwankar,

    1) There are many factors for this such as chirp configuration, duty cycle used, total conducted power used etc.

You could refer to below emission report which provides the EIRP and conditions used.

    2) &3)  Yes, by increasing the number of elements increases the gain of the antenna, however it also narrows the field of view. Adding number of elements need to be looked at holistically from the antenna design point of view, there are many parameters will need to be seen or optimized such as Antenna gain, field of view, Bandwidth, Isolation, Antenna impedance matching, frequency response, beam tilt, sidelobes suppressions etc..

It's strongly advised to do Antenna simulations to check above parameters meets the desired expectations, without doing simulations it may cause adverse affects.
