PGA970: EVM Excitation Driver Configuration

Part Number: PGA970

PGA970 EVM's excitation driver uses inverting amplifiers to produce excitation signal. Maybe it's not important for 5 wire configuration. However, excitation voltage phase can be important 4 wire lvdt configuration, but I'm not sure. Why you didn't use non-inverting amplifier instead inverting ones.

  • Hello,

I cannot speak to the original designer's intentions, but the inverting configuration generally has better commode rejection at the input compared to a non-inverting configuration. However, the amplifier configuration on the EVM is meant only as an example, and not a recommendation for all use cases. If your application requires the use of a non-inverting amp, that can be perfectly valid.
