I am not familiar with the data processing. I can get the raw data with IWR1642 and DCA1000EVM, so I wanna get some information about how to process the raw data captured by DCA1000EVM to draw the azimuth range heatmap like OOB demo.

HI, Maolin:

The raw data format and parsing example can be found at: https://www.ti.com/lit/an/swra581b/swra581b.pdf. Can you confirm that you are using radar studio for raw data capture?

After you get the raw ADC data, you can apply range FFT, Doppler FFT. In the OOB demo, the zero doppler bin signal is transferred out into visualizer, and azimuth range heatmap is then generated inside OOB visualizer through FFT process.

Yes, angle FFT is used to generate range azimuth heatmap.

Thank you for your relpy. I have another question. Angle FFT is to perform 1DFFT on the 2DFFT results of multiple RXs in the antenna dimension to obtain a range-azimuth map. But our IWR1642 device has only four receivers. How does the OOB heat map achieve a resolution smaller than 15 degrees?

HI, there:

You can configure the chirp as TDM-MIMO, and visual antenna from TX1 and TX2 will result in 8 even spaced antenna array in azimuth direction.

Hi Zigang,

Do you know how many the specific angle bin of the azimuth heat map of OOB has? For example, fft(X,n) returns the n-point angle fft. X is the result of 2D-fft, what is the n here?

N = 128. But it is not very important, you can set anything like 64 or bigger.
