MMWCAS-RF-EVM: MMWCAS-RF-EVM Image Radar Host Board Connectors

Part Number: MMWCAS-RF-EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MMWCAS-DSP-EVM,

Hi team,

I am wondering if there is an extra cable (5-10cm length) for connecting MMWCAS-RF-EVM and MMWCAS-DSP-EVM available on TI website, or any alternatives on the market could be used?

For example, the DAC1000 comes with a Samtec cable (roughly 5cm) for connecting xWR1843 or xWR6843 to enable LVDS data streaming, I am thinking if MMWCAS-DSP-EVM has a similar cable implemented with a Hirose FX23-120P-0.5SV15 Header for connection extension use?

Usually, MMWCAS-RF-EVM should have to firmly connect to MMWCAS-DSP-EVM, and use screws for installation enforcement. In my case, I would place MMWCAS-RF-EVM on a gimbal and make it a bit more flexible attaching on MMWCAS-DSP-EVM (fixing on the handle part) via a host board connection cable. And MMWCAS-RF-EVM could have a range of movement angle settings for my experiments. Moving along with MMWCAS-DSP-EVM on a gimbal is quite heavy, and a general gimbal could not be able to handle a combined weight (roughly 400g).

Many thanks!

  • Hi,

Unfortunately we are not aware of such a mounting architecture. If the cable can handle the CSI data transfers. I think it should work

    thank you

  • Hi Cesar,

Thanks, as you mentioned CSI data transfers, can you please advise a few alternative cables that could enable CSI? I am wondering if the existing cables could have the same connectors to  MMWCAS-DSP-EVM and  MMWCAS-RF-EVM.

  • Also, since the RF board uses 2 Hirose FX23-120P-0.5SV15 connectors for power supply and data transfer, I am wondering if the existing CSI cables could enable both power supply and data transfer. Or do you know if a third-party company is selling such kind of cable with the same Hirose connector?

    Many thanks.

  • Referring to the user guide document of the RF board, did you use a standard CSI-2 connector definition to implement the Host Board Connector (J4/J5) or it is specially designed for TI products? If it's a unique design, I am wondering if you are selling these essential accessories such as cables, connectors, or installation screws?

  • Hi,

The connectors should be standard. They should be part of the board BOM

Unfortunately the designer of the board is no longer available for support. So, we don't have additional information

    thank you
