IWR6843: SPI from sample demos

Part Number: IWR6843

Dear ,

I refer to this post from about two years ago- https://e2e.ti.com/support/sensors-group/sensors/f/sensors-forum/897434/iwr6843-pinmux-settings-device-coding-for-i2c-spi-usage/3351108?tisearch=e2e-sitesearch

And was wondering which version of the SDK and TI Resource Exploerer were used to develop the SPI files for the demo? My problem is similar to that described by in the thread and I hope you both can help with some clarifications.

regards,

Tosin

  • Hi Tosin,

Here is where we store our SPI test examples for SDK 3.5: mmwave_sdk_03_05_00_04\packages\ti\drivers\spi\test\xwr68xx. This is the location db_woodall is referring to in the thread when he refers to 'C:\ti\mmwave_sdk_03_0x_0x_0x\packages\ti\drivers\spi\test\xwr68xx'.

Please let me know if you have any more questions.

    Thanks,

    Angie

  • Thanks for the response Angie.

I understand where to find the drivers and test examples. But I want to make use of the shared files from db_woodall for understanding the workings of SPI in the out of box demo.

I downloaded these files and followed the instructions he gave but I have compilation errors which seems to be related to version errors in either the SDK or the Industrial Toolbox. I started with SDK 3.5 and tested the procedures with Toolbox 4.10, 4.6 and 4.4.1

Reading the referred thread further, I think I found that SDK v3.3 is being used, and then I got Industrial Toolbox versions 4.2, 4.2.1 and 4.3. After several tries, I was able to compile the project in CCS with SDK v3.3 and Toolbox v4.2.1.

But this led to another problem- I could not connect to my sensor (IWR6843AoP) via the mmwave demo Visualizer. I have now tried all versions from 2.1, 3.2.1, 3.3, 3.4 and 3.5

  • Hi Tosin,

Thank you for the info! db_woodall no longer works at TI and the files he shared are most likely not up to date. It is hard to know what version of the SDK or the toolbox he was using at the time.

I see multiple problems in the e2e thread attached. Can you explain which specific problem (or problems) you are trying to solve?

    Thank you,

    Angie
