TMAG5273: question (resolution and GUI of EVM)

Part Number: TMAG5273

Hello Experts,

My customer has question as follows. Would you please answer it?
1. Regarding SENS40_A1, the resolution is 1/820=1.22uT/LSB, I think. But customer measured it and the result was 0.019532mT/LSB. Which one is correct?
2. Regarding GUI of EVM, what does "As fast as possible" mean? (Please see below picture. It is located in top of center.)

Best Regards,
Fujiwara

  • Fujiwara-san,

I believe the discrepancy here is a factor of 16.  If reading only 12 bits of data, the LSB for a +/- 40 mT range should be 0.019532 mT/LSB.  However, the data is read from the register in two 8 bit segments.  Combining these results, the LSB size of a combined 16 bit word is then 1.22 uT/LSB.

"As Fast as Possible" sets the GUI to repeatedly send read commands to the MCU.  The MCU then executes the read and sends this back.  This is not the same as the maximum I2C read rate for the device.  There is a significant delay in communication sending and receiving one byte packets.  Future GUI updates are planned to communicate this data in a larger bulk packets that will better demonstrate the maximum sample rate of the device.

    Thank you,

    Scott Bryson
