Hello expert,

I got a question from our customer .

For the long time usage of the system, the external flash contents might be broken due to the over time of the data retention.

If such a case happen, does TI mmwave device has a mechanism to detect such flash data broken when the bootloader wakeup?

Hello,

There is a CRC check on the image so if there is a problem with the flash image load the boot will fail. There is also an example for a secondary bootloader that would validate the image CRC, and if there was an error, boot from a backup image in a different section of the flash. These are the main options.

Their question was, are there the same type of the life time issue in IWR6843 memory and related circuit as well as the external flash memory?

Fujinaka-san,

What life time issues specifically are you asking about? Typically the flash chips have a limited number of write cycles. But in typical production they shouldn't be writing to the flash very often. The memory being loaded in the IWR6843 is RAM, not flash, so there are not the same concerns.
