IWR6843AOP: 3D People Counting Lab V2.2.0

Part Number: IWR6843AOP

Hello,

I was wondering if the "3D people counting" lab (not the "Overhead" Lab) works in ceiling-mount setup by setting the configured sensor tilt parameter to 90 degrees?
If yes, is there any optimised configuration file for the ceiling mount setup?

Cheers,
Kai

  • Hello,

This is correct. Any tilt angle over 75 degrees should set this into overhead mode. The main difference between the two demos is the slight difference in capon3D estimation. The overhead lab is set for a zoom in mode to optimize for pointcloud detection in azimuth and elevation. Using the 3D people counting demo in an overhead configuration will still work, but will give optimized detection in the azimuth direction rather than both azimuth and elevation (although the points are still in 3D). SO if you are mounting overhead but focus more on one direction than another (think hallway, narrow passage, etc), it may be beneficial to use the 3D people counting demo to start with.

The configuration should be similar for the two setups, you will need to reconfigure the boundary box parameters and the sensor position params to account for the shift.

See the demo implementation guide for more info.
