IWR1843: nquiries about the internal temperature sensor.

Part Number: IWR1843

Hi Experts,

Customer is developing their module board with IWR1843AQGABL. I received inquiries about the internal temperature sensor.

  1. Customer is asking the measurable temperature range with the internal temperature sensor. I tried to look for this data, however, I was not able to find this data in datasheet/TRM. Could you clarify it, please?
  2. I was not able to find Recommended operation temperate in datasheet. Could you clarify it, please
  3. And then,  according to “8.1 Absolute Maximum Ratings” in the datasheet, Tj (Operating junction temperature range) is define as follows. If measured value of temperature sensor is higher, customer believe Junction temperature is increased. what maximum value is indicated by the internal temperature sensor when junction temperature reaches 105 degree C ? it seems customer would like to use this read-result of temp-sensor to estimate junction value. I'm not sure if it is possible or not.

Can I have your expert’s advice/comments on those inquiries, please?

Best regards,

Miyazaki

  • Hello Miyazaki,

Please find responses to your concerns below :

Temp sensor accuracy on IWR1843 is +/-7C and the Operating temperature of the device is - Junction temp range: –40°C to 105°C (as you already pointed in the datasheet).

what maximum value is indicated by the internal temperature sensor when junction temperature reaches 105 degree C ?

Since the error is +/-7 degree C, it can be in both directions. Hence we feel it is a little difficult to predict the junction temp in one reading. You could take an average of a few readings if possible to get a rough idea on the exact junction temp.

  • Hi Ishita,

Thank you for your comments on this. I shared your comments with customer.

I'd like to wait their feedback for a while.

    Best regards,
