TMAG5231: Reduce power on time

Part Number: TMAG5231

Hello,

I am using TMAG5231 in a low-power application in which I am turning sensor on only for short period of time during measurement. Given that, I am wondering if there is any possibility to reduce the power-on time.

Additionally to that I experience problematic behavior of TMAG5231 when I connect pull-up resistor to the OUT pin when TMAG5231 is not connected to power supply. In that situation TMAG5231 starts to change OUTPUT state between 1 and 0 even tough there is no magnetic filed around it. What can I do to eliminate this behavior, besides making sure that TMAG5231 is always powered on when I enable pull-up resistor?

  • Kacper,

Thank you for reaching out with your question.  Unfortunately there isn't a lot that can be done for the ton time. If you happen to have a slow VCC rise time when power is applied, this may extend your effective power-on time.  The device does require a typical 140 us to fully initialize.

For the output pin toggling, you are taking the device into a state outside of the specified abs max rating.  The output pin is rated to VCC +0.3V, we recommend that to ensure stable operation that you avoid allowing VOUT to exceed these conditions.

    Thanks,

    Scott
