AWR1843BOOST: Increasing the number of elements of the antenna to increase the antenna gain and EIRP

Part Number: AWR1843BOOST

Hello,

We are making the changes in the antenna design by increasing the number of elements in the Tx and Rx antenna to get the high EIRP and antenna gain. Our application is obstacle avoidance at the range of minimum 30m using drones and automotive applications like parking assistance, free space sensing, in-cabin occupancy detection, etc as given in the automotive_toolbox. For this we are taking the AWR1843BOOST as a reference for antenna design.

Please answer our below queries regarding this:

1) What changes will require in the schematic design ?

2) Is there any changes required in the data processing chain of the application ?

Regards,

Shiwankar

  • Hi,

As you have noticed the different demos provided in the automotive tool box require two types of antennae: BOOST and ODS.

    Answer #1

Changing the antenna can be a complex activity. We recommend that you work with a partner that has expertise in developing antennae.

    Question #2

The radar signal processing will not change if the dimensions of the antennae are the same and the number of TX/RX used is the same.

    Thank you

    Cesar
