LM96163: How to trigger ALERT pin signal during over Tachometer limit?

Hi team,

My customer uses this part to do FAN speed monitor but when FAN speed is over Tachometer limit setting but there is no Alert signal output.

Could you advise how to program internal register for correct step?

Based on customer's observation, they found TACH Alarm bit is 1 in REG0x2 and Alert Status' TACH bit is changed. but HW Alert pin is no changed.

Hi Paul,

The TCHAM bit in ALERT Mask register 0x16 must be set for TACH to affect the ALERT pin. This bit is not set by default.

Ren,

One thing need your clarify.
0x16 ALERT Mask Default is set to 0xA4, and this TCHAM bit Default is set to 0,
And from the description of the file, the ALERT signal will be generated only if the bit is set to 0.
Not sure if I misunderstood this part? Thanks

Hi Paul,

Could you please check if toggling this bit solves your problem? This TCHAM bit and the ALTMSK in the Configuration register are the only relevant settings.
