IWR6843ISK: Transmitter Gain

Hi there,

I am doing a calculation of the Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR). I see it requires me to know the transmitter and receiver gains (I am using the IWR6843ISK + DCA1000EVM + mmWave Studio).

In mmWave Studio under SensorConfig I can see the set Receiver Gain.

How can I find out what the Transmitter Gain is? I have checked the datasheet and did not find it.

Hi, Kuhle:

The full transmit power per channel is usually 12dBm. But you can program a back-off to reduce this power. The receive gain that programmed under sensor configuration is the digital gain and it usually does not affects the SNR.

Regarding the transmit gain and receive gain in SNR equation, it usually means antenna gain. The antenna gain is different for different antenna design, For IWR6843ISK EVM, you can find the gain pattern at: https://dev.ti.com/tirex/explore/node?node=AKmH9w1v7oVun368MJe7Aw__VLyFKFf__LATEST. The peak gain for both TX and RX gain is about 7dBi.
