AWR2243: About AWR2243 cascaded radar

Part Number: AWR2243
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MMWCAS-DSP-EVM, MMWCAS-RF-EVM

Hi, support team

My customer has the questions as follow:

I have a few questions to ask:

1. In MIMO mode, does each cascaded radar board only need to be calibrated once?

2. After I collect data according to the default MIMOlua, I run cascade_MIMO_antennaCalib.m and cascade_MIMO_signalProcessing.m very smoothly, but when I change the parameters of the file in MIMOlua, run the new data directly to the cascade_MIMO_signalProcessing.m file, an error will be reported, I feel that the parameters in the code have not been changed. May I ask which file to change the parameters? There are too many nested functions in it, and many have not come to see, so I want to ask.

The radar is the mmWave cascaded radar (MMWCAS-RF-EVM + MMWCAS-DSP-EVM).

Thanks so much.

Best regards,
Yuki

  • Hi,

Please give us some time to review your questions

    thank you

  • Hi,

     Please find my response below.

    1. Are you referring to the Antenna Calibration here? If yes then we just need to have the Antenna calibration matrix generated at factory once and then use it over. If you are referring to device level calibrations then you need to do them over the use again. Details can be referred in spracv2 section 3.

    2. Can you please share more details what changes you made and what error you got?

    Regards

  • Hi Abhed!

1、Could you please tell me what is the spracv2?I can't find it.

2、I use the default MIMO script to collect data, and then run cascade_ MIMO_ antennaCalib. m file to generate calibration matrix. Then use the default MIMO script to collect data and run cascade_ MIMO_ signalProcessing. m will not report an error and can run 9 frame images smoothly. However, when I change the configuration parameters in the MIMO script, I collect data and run cascade_ MIMO_ signalProcessing. m will report an error. Generally, it will only r run the first 28 frames and then report an error. The following are my changed script parameters and error reports. However, when I only change the number of frames in the script and other parameters remain unchanged, the operation will not report an error. Do I have to change the calibration matrix every time I change the configuration parameters?

    Thanks so much.

    Best regards,
    Yuki

  • HI,

    1. https://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/SPRACV2

    2. Let me look into it and get back to you.

  • Hi,

For the second point, my suspicion is that the captured data consists of only 28 frames.  Based on the file size, can you verify the number of frames captures in the binary file? If indeed the number of frames captured is 28 while you are specifying 33 frames then we need to dig deeper into why the frames are being lost or not saved.
