Hi Team,

Our customer is using IWR1843BOOST and would like to know the following:

Can they use that chip IWR1843 alone to check the antenna functionality?

In regard to the antenna design, the substrate properties of rogers3003 didn't match with the substrate property of rogers 3003 datasheets at 77 GHz. Would you kindly explain this?

Hi Marvin,

Yes they can use IWR1843 to test the antenna functionality.

Can you elaborate more on the differences in RO3003 electrical properties?

Hi Sami,

In the antenna design datasheet provided by TI, the rogers 3003 property is (εr =3.66 and tan δ =0.0037) as seen below,

while the property is different in the datasheet provided by rogers.

Upon checking, these are just typical values that represent the average value for the population of the property as listed on the footnote. Am I correct?

Hi Marvin,

The xWR6843BOOST EVM uses RO4835 LoPro material and not RO3003. This must be a typo in the data sheet.

I would recommend using Er = 3.45 and Loss tangent = 0.0037.
