IWR6843AOP: Replacement of Ridar to IWR6843AOP in AGV

Part Number: IWR6843AOP

Hello,
I would like to consider replacing millimeter-wave sensors with AGV from Ridar
In the ROS project, I found a sample project that displays cloud points.

No other sample projects expected for AGV were found
So I wondered.
Is it possible to use IWR6843AOP to achieve comparable performance as a Ridar
I think the performance of angular resolution is much lower than that of IWR6843AOP.
Is there an example of how the AGV was equipped using IWR6843AOP?

Best Regards

  • Hi,

We have not looked at the Ridar solutions before, so I can only comment on it based what I found on a quick search of their website. If you are looking for 360 coverage of the AGV, you may need multiple AOP sensors since the Field of View would not cover all areas. Our Safety Bubble demo using ROS is likely the closest demo we have currently to what you are looking for, but this seems like it could be done without ROS as well. If you used one radar to cover one side of the AGV, you could then just make a simple gui that lays out the zones and determines whether the zone is occupied based on the number of points.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

    Best Regards,
    Alec
