IWR6843ISK: Solder Mask on RF trace

Hi,

Could you please confirm that tehre is a small area of solder mask between RF IWR BGA balls and RF antenna track ?

(please see blue arrow on picture below taken from IWR6843ISK eval kit gerber file provided on TI webside : swrc355\xWR6843ISK_DesignFiles\Rev_D).

If confirmered, may this solder mask be a problem for RF track impedance ?

Hello Sebastien,

This should not be problem, It has been done intentionally to ensure solder to be present on the RF balls during the reflow process. Without the solder mask there is a risk of poor solder joint and connection to RF balls. Very small section of the solder mask on the RF trace will not affect over all in big scheme of mmWave sensor operation.
