DCA1000EVM: Maximum data measurement time using DCA1000 + IWR6843 and mmwave studio

Part Number: DCA1000EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR6843ISK

Hello, Ti.

I am using DCA1000EVM + IWR6843ISK module  and mmwave studio 2.1.0.0 version to capture data.

I know that when data is collected through mmwave studio, the measurement time is determined by the number of frames to be measured.
I wanted to collect data for 6 hours, so I set the number of frames to 432000(FPS is 20) and try to capture data, but mmwave studio limits the maximum number of frames.

So, if you measure data using mmwave studio, is it impossible to measure data for 6 hours at a time? If possible, how should we proceed?

Another question is, if you use mmwave studio to collect raw data, I wonder if there is a way to measure it without limiting the measurement time

  • HI, John:

I thought that whenever the maximum file size is achieved, it will move to the second file and so on.   Does not also limit the frame number?  Can you send out an screen copy of the error message?

  • Thanks for the reply.

What I mean is when I am trying to use mmwave studio for data capturing we put number of frame that we are trying to capture in mmwave studio(In highlighted part in mmwave studio). When I am trying to get 6 hours data(PS 20) number of frame is 432000, so I put 432000 in highlighted part in mmwave studio it automatically change to 65535.

What I am trying to say is that number of frame we trying to capture is over than 65535, what should I do?? I think it automatically limit the number of frame to 65535.

  • Hi, John:

    Please try following:

    1) program this No of Frames to zero in frame configuration.

    2) ARM and trigger the capture

    3) Click on Stop Frame button manually after 6 hours.

Let me know if it works,

  • I test with 1 hours simulation and when I pressed stop frame button it gives radar interface error like the image that I am showing but when I press postproc button and data seem to be fine. I haven't analyzed the data, but if I get an error message like that when I click the stop frame button, is the data corrupted?

  • Hi, John:

Please check the size of the data file, if the looks reasonable and the data looks right. Then I would not worry about the error message.

    Best,

    Zigang
